College Colors Day WHEREAS, College Colors Day seeks to celebrate and promote the traditions and spirit that make the college experience great by encouraging faculty, staff, alumni, students, and fans to wear apparel of their favorite college throughout the day of August 31, 2007; and WHEREAS, Alabama colleges and universities provide educational opportunities to thousands of Alabama residents and non-residents; and WHEREAS, for more than 175 years, Alabama colleges and universities have been educating citizens of the State of Alabama; and WHEREAS, academic and athletic achievement in the State of Alabama provide scholarship opportunities to thousands of young men and women; and WHEREAS, College Colors Day promotes higher education in Alabama through increased public awareness and celebrating the contributions of colleges and universities in our state: NOW, THEREFORE, I, Bob Riley, Governor of Alabama, do hereby proclaim August 31, 2007, as College Colors Day in the State of Alabama. Given Under My Hand and the Great Seal of the Office of the Governor at the State Capitol in the City of Montgomery on the 20th day of August 2007.
